During our first three days of class (Wednesday-Friday) we will be engaging in several "getting to know you" activities, as well as discussing classroom expectations and procedures. - Spanish: We will work together this week to create a class social contract. These are five expectations modeled after the Panther Pledge that each student in class will vote on and sign in agreement to. On Wednesday empezamos aprendiendo el Español (we'll begin learning Spanish)! The alphabet and introducing yourself are what's ahead. Keep practicing the alphabet song! Memorization is key to learning a new language.

- Spanish: Students will be preparing dialogues to practice introducing themselves and asking basic questions. This will be their first classwork grade! We will also be learning numbers 1-100 and doing several speaking activities. Students' syllabus was due on Friday of last week. They will write a short essay as a baseline for their writing growth; we will do this multiple times throughout the year to track our progress! - Spanish: This week we have been reviewing introductions, goodbyes and numbers as we wrap up Unit 1. Students should expect to see their quiz grades in StudentVUE by Friday (8/31).
- We are starting our first Culture Dig project on Thursday. Students will be receiving their rubric and assignment sheet when they come to the computer lab! Students should use this as a check list to make sure they find all of the required information. This project is meant to be interest filled and a creative outlet! Take your time and have fun with it!

- ESOL: This week students are working in stations (Monday and Thursday) to practice their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. In these stations they will have time to work in our online reading comprehension platform: Summitk12. Students may log onto this at home for more practice! Tuesday and Wednesday we are using AVID strategies to increase our reading comprehension and writing fluency.
- If students need extra practice, they should now have access to Membean! This is a wonderful resource that will boost our students' vocabulary. I recommend 60 minutes per week!

- ESOL: Students have been working very hard to complete their first book in our online reading comprehension program, Summitk12. We are completing practice ACCESS 2.0 tests in order to prepare for the exam in March. Next week, we will begin a writing composition requiring students to write directions using sequential transitions.

- SPANISH: Students took their Unit 3 summative assessment today. For the rest of the week, we will be discussing different classes and how to talk about their schedule! I will be creating a quizlet for students to utilize and study with. Be on the look out for that by the end of this week!
- ESOL: We will be working in our Summitk12 stations on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of this week. Students will begin a "How To" project, wherein they will create a how to brochure to teach us how to make an item or food of their choice. We will be working on this through next week, and they will all share their brochures will the class. It is essential they utilize transition words correctly, as we are practicing this skill in preparation for ACCESS in march!
We have three weeks until the end of the semester! Let's crush it!
